Boss SE-70 Algorithm Guide Very few people seem to need to repair these little SE boxes. Since i already paid there's no reason you should have to pay too, so please download the SE-70 service manual (including schematics) for free and get to repairing your SE-70. If you have an SE-70 problem to fix, please leave a comment down below. There is very little info out there on fixing the SE series so i can use all the info i can get. Thanks and enjoy. Plugged it up and had the same issue. So i next bought another used SE-70 that came with no AC adapter. Tried it with both the AC adapters i had and it had the same noise issue. Finally, i bought a Boss SE-50 that came with it's original power supply (similar enough to that of the SE-70 to work in it's place). I tested out the SE-50 power supply on both my old SE-70 units and on the SE-50 and all three sound beautiful. So the end result was that i had two bum Roland AC power supplies in a row (both original, used from the 1990s), third one was the charm. Now i have three working Boss SE FX units and only one power adapter. I'm considering cracking one of the problem AC adapters open to see what went wrong, but i may just build a new AC output supply instead. Boss SE-70 Service Notes. I am looking for a replacement for the Pioneer PAC0101A audio power IC which belongs to Pioneer VSX-D209 amplifier. This IC is available on ebay but because of currency exchange rate and freight charges to Malaysia, it is very expensive. I guess it means that the Pioneer PAC010A module IC can be replaced by a STK411-230E. I am not sure, is anyone familiar with this IC advice me whether this STK411-230E can safely be used as a replacement. Pls assist. Thanks. Tired of downloading the same vague schematics from yet another website, the copy that is copied ad infinitum on the web. Or did you buy a CD on eBay, full of the same rubbish. Time is money, and especially so for technicians. Time that should be dedicated to repair and not wasted with the frustrations of searching for a decent service manual. So here is a site with only high quality, high resolution service manuals, most of them carefully cleaned, restored and sometimes partially re-drawn. Here you will find no unreadable drawings or manuals with crucial pages missing. Here you get what you need for the job and get on with it. Humans from 1988 could use and SE-70 and have some great sounds without much work (Scott Henderson and John Abercrombie come to my mind.). Tempted to get one though. Now 4 SE-70s in one box with all the choices you just mentioned. Whoa! THAT sounds reallllly interesting. Obviously he is getting a good tone for Live Performance and has been for years. Further if the SE-70 breaks or fails, they are cheap to get and replace. Ok you know what, I'm going to go look back at the manual and the preset list again. I used to program the SE-50 a little to show it off. I remember digging that little box. I ended up buying the Zoom 9030 and 8050 pedal board for my guitar. Learn more Have only now realized the distortion is listed as being analogue but not quite clear exactly what's going on under the hood.

I've found the service manual which shows 3 IC's for the clipping circuit but only one is listed in the parts, the VCA. Anyone know exactly how this is implemented into the unit. The manual makes reference to the OD-1 but I've also read reports saying there are possibly a few pedals inside in hardware form. CheersSwitches remove clipping diodes and lower gain. So, it's sort of saturator into softclipper. So in the models the HIGH or LOW gain option is activating the switches. And it seems then some of the distortion is coming from digital models, how do those two stages manage to account for all 8 of models inside? CheersThere are 3 switches in total, first is seting gain of first stage to low or high, second is switching diodes in first stage in or out, and third is seting gain of second stage to low or high. So, there are 8 combinations in total. Some are a bit dubious, if you set 1st tage to hi gain but leave diodes out, first stage opamp will clip. But then, some guitar pedals use opamp clipping. There are 3 switches in total, first is seting gain of first stage to low or high, second is switching diodes in first stage in or out, and third is seting gain of second stage to low or high. But then, some guitar pedals use opamp clipping.Guess BOSS had quite a lot of pedal experience to draw on.It was historically too computationally demanding to do good digital distortion, and players would complain if it's all aliasy. When the DSPs became powerful enough to do good distortion, the flexibility of digital modeling outweighed the simplicity of analog circuits. The distortion in the Yamaha SPX90 (and related models) is digital, and it sounds terrible.A guitar processor already requires an ADC and often has an insert for external effects, so additional DA and AD conversions aren't a big deal. In a synth, it's generally simpler to just stream digital data from the synth engine to the effect processor IC to the DAC.

Memorials, RIPs and Obituaries Grove Park, Maidenhead, Berkshire SL6 3LW.Hosted by Nimbus Hosting. All Rights Reserved. Problem is that I'm getting a slight pause between patches when I use the pedals on the Control 8. Here is my signal chain: FX loop SEND from Mesa Studio PRE to the input of the Boss, then the outputs of the Boss go back to the returns of the Mesa Pre (they are stereo returns). Thats pretty much it.not sure if I'm missing a setting somewhere to get rid of the pause. The whole of it calls for tears.? -- Seneca The whole of it calls for tears.? -- Seneca In one of the reviews on Harmony Central someone said they were using their SE 70 with an ART X-15 midi footswitch.

I'm assuming that if the person was happy with the set up then they would NOT get pauses between patch selection. I could be wrong. I do have the original manual. It suggests using the Boss FC 50 midi control pedal, and it does show a sample set up using it in a guitar rig. So I would imagine that the FC 50 would NOT have a pause when changing patches.where the Control 8 does.for some reason. Any of that sound right. Thanks again. Anyone else out there using a Boss SE 70. I recently got mine and have to say that the effects sound GREAT. The whole of it calls for tears.? -- Seneca If so, then the pause is inherent in the DSP chip(s) and there's not anything to be done about it. I would tend to guess that the Harmony Central poster is using MIDI continuous controllers from the pedals and buttons on his floorbox to control the parameters of the current patch. So in other words, you have all the tones picked out for song you're doing, and they live in a single FX patch, which you can punch on or off any of the individual FX in a chain with y'r footcontroller buttons or pedals. See your foot-controller manual and the SE-70 manual for more information on setting up CC chains. Hope that's helpful. That makes perfect sense. I did read in both manuals about setting up Continuous Controller mode.guess I'll dive in. Thanks again! Would still love to hear from somebody who plays guitar live with a Boss SE 70. M. Don't know what to do or where to go. Ask in here. I can hear all the effects and they don't sound distorted, but there is some kind of clicking or clock sounding tick noise that's in the audio like the audio is being clipped. I'm running it through a step down transformer that works fine with other stuff. I'm can't find a cheap euro adapter and the original boss adapters are hard to find or like 40 euros when you do. I don't really want to spend that much to find out it doesn't help.

It doesn't seem like there is a lot I can do to fix it, I'm just wondering if anybody else has ever come across something like this. Maybe I am missing something. Boss gear does not usually have an earth pin connected. If the powersource is not the problem then it might be a capacitor, leading to clocksignals bleeding into the audiopath Cheers Arne Thanks for the adapter link, but I need a 230vac adapter. I'm in Serbia for awhile. I have euro adapters for almost all of my stuff, but the boss is the hardest to find. I don't really even know where to order electronics stuff in europe. I guess I should check mouser. The se-70 takes 6.3mm OD and 3.0mm, but maybe I can find an adapter. I tried the tests and everything seems fine. I sort of think it has to do with the step down transformer. No idea why it is fine on all the other algorithms. It's even fine on other dual presets and on the individual reverb and gate reverb. Maybe this converter is just a piece of junk. It happen mostly on the modulation effects where there is heavier processing going on. I will check out the change of PSU which is recommended here.CHorus, Trem are superb. Problem is the barrel size for the connector is unusual so I found a supply with a 'usual' size barrel, then went on amazon and found an adapter to make the barrel connector the right size. The problem was fixed by replacing three capacitors C145, C149 and C164 around IC13 7805 regulator for a new good ones. Now it has a pure sound again. At the same time, our proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure uses external ports to vent the earcups and maximize the acoustic space inside, giving your music depth and detail. Plus, one click triggers Conversation Mode, which simultaneously switches your headphones to full transparency and pauses your music, for a momentary break from private listening. Six mics work together to cancel the noise around you so you can hear the caller better, while four mics combine to improve the clarity of your voice so the caller can hear you better, first by isolating your speech and then by suppressing the most disruptive remaining sound around you. It all happens in real-time and adapts as you — or the source of the noise — moves. Noise cancelling is as brilliant as ever.” The result? A head-turning new form factor, designed for all-day, everyday use. Earcups tilted at 15 degrees to mirror the anatomy of the human head and ears. Ear cushions made from plush protein leather for long listening sessions. A streamlined steel headband tuned to clamp securely but not uncomfortably and an underside of soft silicone-covered foam. And so much more. The right earcup features capacitive touch sensors, so you can manage volume, calls, and music without looking at your phone. Low-profile buttons control the power, noise cancelling presets, and voice assistant (VPA) access. Built-in voice control gets you to your music, messages, and information fast.

And the Bose Music app lets you access selectable EQ, manage your Bluetooth connections, change your VPA, check your battery life, and more. Independent volume controls allow you to lower or mute your soundbar while keeping your headphones as loud as you like. Like those easy-to-use touch controls and the custom noise cancellation settings.I bought this one and it is pretty good. I have the tv on in the room fairly loud to test and I could barely hear the voices. For music, both are engineered with proprietary active equalization, so they avoid boosted bass, vocals, and treble that create listener fatigue over time, opting instead for faithful reproduction that’s clear, natural, and balanced. Both headphones also feature controllable noise cancelling; however, while QuietComfort 35 offers three settings, Headphones 700 offers 11 — including a full-transparency experience that gives the term “off” an entirely new meaning. While the highest setting delivers the most powerful silence, the lowest lets your surroundings pass-through the earcups fully — so with the flick of a switch, you hear yourself, others, and everything else like you aren’t wearing a headset at all. Conversation Mode lets you gain the same awareness while enjoying content — so you can pause entertainment and noise cancelling simultaneously, chat face-to-face, or listen for announcements, and resume where you left off when you’re done. Active noise cancelling relies on a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach using microphones both inside and outside the earcups to monitor the sounds around you and instantly produces an opposite signal to cancel the noise. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of the acoustic structure and the earcup fit. Six microphones dramatically cancel noise, so it doesn’t reach your ears. Two of those microphones combine with two others to dramatically improve voice pickup.

A beamform-array isolates your speech, suppressing everything else that’s audible. A rejection-array adds a second line of defense, tracking then blocking the most disruptive remaining sound — from a coffee grinder to other dialogue nearby. It all happens in real-time, adapting as you move or your environment changes. In addition to traditional calls, the headphones will work with many apps that use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Skype or FaceTime. Next, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to put the headphones into pairing mode. Please note, if this is your first time connecting the headphones, they will automatically turn on right into this pairing mode. Voice prompts will provide you with additional guidance. We recommend you use the Bose Music app to complete the pairing process, however, you can also use the Bluetooth settings on your device. So while you’re watching video on the connected iPad, the headphones will automatically pause the video to answer a call from the connected smartphone. When the call is finished, the headphones switch back to the video on the iPad. It is realistic to describe the range as being the room the user is in and the adjacent room. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Pops or a crackling noise may be heard if there’s interference with the Bluetooth connection. If that happens, move away from wireless routers or microwaves and bring your headphones closer to the Bluetooth device. In additional, a double tap will pause or play your content and also answer or hang up a call. Do nothing and the bass, midrange, and treble of whatever you’re listening to will be adjusted automatically to make it sound great. Or choose Equalizer in the settings of the Bose Music app to change the audio levels yourself to however you like them best. Either way, you’ll enjoy immersive sound at any volume.

Through a series of software updates, Bose plans to add new features and even more impressive sound management features over time. Simply register your new headphones on the Bose Music app and Bose will alert you as each new feature becomes available. Inside the case, there is a dedicated cable management compartment with a magnetic cover. This design improves ease of use and utility, while the thin wedge shape also facilitates storage in tight locations, including seat pockets, backpacks, and bags. It will guide you through the setup process, allowing you to set up an integrated button access feature that will automatically connect to your voice assistant app. For regions where only one is available, the app will automatically display the one you can select. In regions where neither is available, the voice assistant button will default to the native voice assistant available on your mobile device.
